What is a Breach Scan?

Every year, billions of login credentials are exposed and stolen from some of the world's largest websites. TotalAV offer its Data Breach Search that will allow you to see if your email has been compromised.

Data Breach Search allows you to check if any email address has been affected by any known data breaches. Some big websites have been breached in the past, like LinkedIn and MySpace.

Sometimes the data that has been leaked includes fully exposed passwords. This data can be valuable to hackers and cyber-criminals as internet users tend to use the same passwords across multiple websites and accounts. Once the information is leaked there is no way to remove it.

    • How do I use Data Breach Search?

    To use TotalAV's Data Breach Search follow these instructions:


  • Click Here to go to your TotalAV Dashboard.


  • Click on Breach Scan in the navigation bar



  • Enter your email address of your choosing and Click Check Now



    • We will then let you know if your email address has a breach associated with it.

    • If your email address hasn't been in a New Data Breach, the following window will appear:



    However, if your email address has been in a New Data Breach, please see What to Do After a Data Breach Article


    Any previous Data Breaches will be listed below as well for you to look at, along with further information if you Click the arrow button.

    Why is Dark Web Search Important?

    When a breach occurs, any user on that list who has information exposed could then be open to either financial loss or identity theft. If you find your email address linked to a breach, you should go and change your password on that website immediately, and potentially on any other websites where you have used the same password.

    Tips to Stay Protected!

    One of the best things you can do to stay protected online is to use a password manager and generate unique passwords for every account that you create online. That way if one password gets leaked, a hacker will not be able to use that password to gain access to other accounts.

    How do I use Data Breach Search?

    To use TotalAV's Data Breach Search follow these instructions:


  • Open up TotalAV



  • Click Data Breach Check under Internet Security



  • Enter you email and Click Check My Email


  • The Data Breach Scan will begin



  • Should you not experience any Data Breaches, the following window will appear below:



    • If you do encounter a Data Breach, the following window will appear below:

  • Enter your email address and Tap Check Now.


  • To which it will show if your email address has been involved in a Data Breach Recently or not.
