Using Total Drive

Sharing Files with Total Drive

You can share both individual files or collection of files with Total Drive.

This article will cover the following:

  • Sharing as a link
  • Sharing To Your Family
  • Managing your Shared Items

  • Sharing as a Link

    You can create a link to share your files or folders with others through the internet. This link will allow anyone with the link to access the content through our website.

    Anyone who has this link will be able to access the files shared. For secure sharing please use Your Family.

    To create the link, find the content on Total Drive you wish to share and select it, then click the share icon.

    You can copy the link and share it directly, or use share it using Email, Facebook or Twitter.


    Sharing to Your Family

    Your Family is an area where you can add items. These items will then be shared to any joined Family Members.

    To add create a shared family check out our Creating A Shared Family article.

    To add files or collections to Your Family:

  • Select the item
  • Click the Share icon
  • Click Post to Family
  • Managing Your Shared Items

    Any items you have shared can be managed in the Shared section. You can manage what is posted to Your Family.

    Sharing as a Link

    You can create a link to share your files or folders with others through the internet. This link will allow anyone with the link to access the content through our website.


    Anyone who has this link will be able to access the files shared. For secure sharing please use Your Family.


  • To create the link, find the content on Total Drive you wish to share and select it, then click the share icon.
  • You can copy the link and share it directly, or use share it using SMS, Email, Facebook or Twitter.

  • Share Options

    Is a feature we have created to make your sharing links more secure when sharing with other people.

  • Sharing Expiration
  • This allows you to adjust the timescale of when the link expires when created and sent to the person you want to receive the file.


  • Sharing Password Protection
  • This allows you to lock the file you are sharing with a secure password to ensure file security.

    Sharing to Your Family

    Sharing to Your Family is simple and quick to do. These items will be shared to any joined Family Members.


    TIP: To add create a shared family check out our Creating A Shared Family article.


    To add files or collections to Your Family:


  • Find the File you would like to Post to Your Family

  • Tap on the Share Icon

  • Tap on the Post to Family option

  • This will post the file to your Shared Family Area, that only your Family will have access too.

    Managing Your Shared Items

    Any items you have shared can be managed in the Shared section. You can manage what is posted to Your Family.
